Byron Thomas Gardens BA (Hons) RHS Diploma in Garden Design
Byron Thomas is a landscape designer and plantsman based in London. He is a graduate of the English Gardening School in Chelsea, obtaining an RHS diploma in Garden Design and is a graduate of Liverpool University. Some of his key designs have been published in conjunction with Rosemary Alexander and the latest edition of her acclaimed book, ’The Essential Garden Design Workbook’, widely recognised as an industry standard text.
With over 20 years experience in landscape construction and married with a strong background in art and design, he has established a reputation for delivering beautiful, bespoke gardens that are reflective of there time and space. He works on both domestic and small commercial projects, and regularly consults to several prestigious architects on the design and planting proposals for a wide variety of exciting projects. His studio offers full design packages, planting plans, tendering packs, planning application drawings, project management and consultation.
Byron’s designs are heavily plant focussed. This approach has been refined from his initial career in horticulture, providing him with an excellent grounding in plant knowledge and selection. He quickly established his reputation whilst designing for several high profile clients on several demanding projects. The move from construction to designer has been an organic process, built on hard work, knowledge and experience that allows his designs to encompass a holistic harmony between the hard and soft landscaping elements.
Byron is currently working on some exciting projects in both the domestic and commercial realm, and he has a clear ethos that is central to the creative process. The client is always at the core of the design from the initial consultation to the projects completion, and working in partnership is essential to realising the brief. This approach is also heavily reliant on good design, the best quality materials, skilled craftsmen and plants that will thrive in their environment for years to come.
